The Masvingo city council has expressed appreciation on the achievements made in the city to improve the living standards for local residents .
The city is currently ranked the second , of the cleanest cities in the country after Victoria falls which is currently ranked the first when it comes to waste disposal .
The city mayor , Mr Herbert Fidze revealed that they are currently engaging the residents association and a certain Non  Governmental Organization in the collection and disposal of waste as well as encouraging improved waste management behavioral change by residents .
The council is however concerned that such programs were not being published on local media .the council is of the view that efforts be made by councilors at ward level to ensure that Masvingo residents were informed of achievements.
Mr Herbert Fidze , in his capacity as the mayor of Masvingo city joined journalists’ celebrations of press freedom , though he had a busy day to make sure he informs them about these achievements.
“the only concern in Masvingo right now is he mushrooming of unauthorized small car ranks in the central business district ” echoed Fidze
The man of action , Mr Fidze however made it known that such undesignated small vehicle ranks should cease operations forthwith. The main ones being the one situated at croco motors , at the garage opposite OK supermarket , civic Centre  and at the front of pick n pay .
The undesignated ranks are  the only cause of litter that Masvingo is having but the council jas sworn to take appropriate measures to stop the small vehicles from using undesignated ranks in the central business district .
